The Erotic Pinay – Female Sexuality Exposed

Let me unfasten myself from the restraint of the subtle issue of eroticism…For me, the erotic is an assertion of the “chi” of women, of that empowered creative vigor, the awareness and exercise of which have been reclaimed in our language, our history, our music, our arts, our dancing, our loving, our work and our lives.

One glorious day I was shopping at a bookstore closing-out sale. I was not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but this one caught my curiosity. Right on the front was a waist-up shot of a partially-nude Filipina woman. The model was confident in her fine skin, courtesy of Photoshop perhaps. Her arms crossed under her chest barely covered her beautiful breasts. I pick the magazine and started browsing the pages for more photos. But I was seduced by the delightfully written and exhaustive stories about the characters and their sexual experiences.

I appreciated reading about women enjoying sex, their bodies and defining their own sexuality and not how some hip-hop music, exploitative talk shows or other mediums have put a negative mark on female sexuality. If the writers were female in this piece of lit, then they were asserting their identity. The book only cost a few bucks that I certainly I could afford…

The erotic literature somehow fascinated me and I began to wonder about how women perceive their sexuality today. I know that many of us would instantly deem such erotic materials "repulsive."  But these same people were guys who made jokes and listened to edgy music. It's interesting how some people are uncomfortable with having a mature discussion about sex but feel more at ease with raunchy conversation.

Some of my friends surreptitiously admitted about reading erotic books and discussed about the love scenes. A family friend told me she read the books in bed with her husband. But everyone wasn't, nor still is, comfy on the topic. Some folks find it undignified and think the stories reinforce the typecast of people being oversexed. When I initiated a discussion in our workplace about eroticism, there were cheeks blushing, nervous laughter and throat clearing.

How time flies, things have partially changed since I read that erotic magazine… and the others that came into my sight. It seems like erotic lit may have reached its climax. People are still reading and authors are selling their stories. But now, I feel like the hype isn't there anymore. It's almost like being with same lover for quite a long time. You know her routine in the bedroom and have explored her physical territory many times. It's not as exciting as the first time, but you still love her. Is it time to spice things up in erotic literature? I don't mean more sex, but just a rebirth?

Dim the lights. Slip into something comfortable, and let me get under her covers...

14 Pinay Secrets to Look Good Naked

When you take your clothes off, there’s no doubt that you want to look good naked. Whether you're posing in front of your mirror or an art class or photographer, going skinny dipping, visiting a nude beach, or just baring all for a special someone, the most obvious way to look good naked is to get into the shape that you want to be in. However, that requires discipline. However, there are other ways to look good naked that don't involve hitting the gym or counting your calories.

Stand up straight. This is, by far, the most important step, because no one looks good naked when he or she is hunched over. Straighten your spine, throw your shoulders back, take a deep breath, and relax without letting your shoulders slump forward. Having good posture will make your shoulders look broader if you're a guy, and it will make your chest look perkier if you're a woman. Plus, when you elongate your torso, you stretch out any fat in your midsection (when you slump, the fat clumps together into rolls and folds).

Aim to stand on the diagonal, with a twist at the waist to the front instead of facing your viewer straight on- this will naturally cinch you in. Drop your shoulders down and subtly arch your back, this will flatten your belly and make your boobs appear perkier. Whether standing, walking or sitting down aim to keep one leg in front of the other, this slims the body. A quick trick when sitting is that if you want to elongate your legs, you should point your toes. Eye contact is crucial; it makes all the difference between being just a naked body, or somebody naked, so use it wisely.

Don't eat right before you strip. No one is going to look good naked with a stomach stuffed full of pasta. If you want to look good naked, make sure you eat in moderation before you take off your clothes! You should also stay away from foods that cause gas and bloating (beans, carbonated beverages, etc). If your stomach expands anyway, try to go for a walk or make a trip to the bathroom--both will help move things along, so to speak.

Take care of your skin. When you're naked, it's all you've got. First, exfoliate your skin (especially rough patches like elbows and knees) to remove dead skin cells and expose a fresh new (soft) layer of skin. You may also want to shave or wax any hair that you find unflattering. Just remember that waxing can cause irritation, so make sure you have enough time for any redness and swelling to subside. And with shaving, time it so that you're not dealing with a five o'clock shadow (stubble) just when you're about to take off your clothes. If you have the time, use self-tanner to even out your skin tone and mask any imperfections.

Update your hair. Your hair is the only fashion statement you'll be wearing so it needs to look current, soft, healthy and touchable (give the hairspray and sticky gel a miss, unless you really, really need it). Most important of all, you need a cut which suits the shape of your face and is in proportion to the size of your body. Find a good hairdresser and visit often for a regular trim and occasional restyle.

Don't forget your extremities. Jagged nails, white knuckles, and the smell of onions you cut for dinner stir-fry just aren't flattering. Clip your nails to an appropriate length, wash your hands and feet, and apply some lotion if they're dry. Additionally, you can get a professional manicure and pedicure or learn to do it yourself, if that's the look you're going for. Keep your hands relaxed and free, or place one on your hip to emphasize your curves. And whatever you do- don't fiddle.

Apply a bit of makeup, if it's your thing. (Men can wear makeup too.) A natural look will go best with your natural body, and besides, you don't want your face paint to come off on the bed cloths. Just a little bit of subtle makeup can work wonders to accentuate your good points and camouflage the points you're less than happy with. And you can also use a bit of body makeup to cover up flaws such as spider veins.

Smile. If you're not happy with the color of your smile, look into teeth whitening options. Most importantly of all, smile because it signals that you’re happy with your body, and will make you (and anyone else who’s present) feels comfortable with your nakedness. Plus it shows confidence!

Let your eyes sparkle! When your smile reaches your eyes, you want them to sparkle, not show the effects of too many nights burning the candle at both ends. Get plenty of beauty sleep before taking it all off, or as a last resort for a special occasion, use eye drops to give your eyes a special glint.

Smell good. Don't overpower the world with too much fragrance or use a whole selection of competing products - differently perfumed shampoo, deodorant, soap and body lotion can be a toxic combination. Lightly layered perfume from matching bath products and no more than a light spray of fragrance from the same range will leave you smelling good as well as looking good.

Adjust the lighting. Remember that no one looks their best under bright fluorescent light - soft lighting or candle light will improve the mood of the moment AND your body. It'll also make your pupils dilate, which creates a subconscious impression that you're more attractive!
Back lighting is great for smoothing out lumps and bumps so position yourself in front of the strongest light, or in front of a window if you are getting naked before nightfall. But don't forget, those outside will also be able to see in!

Feel good naked. In the end, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable in your own skin, and that you realize that your body isn't perfect--no one's is. If you've taken the steps above and you still dread seeing (or letting someone else see) what you look like when you are naked, dig a little deeper. Build your confidence from the inside out.

Get the room temperature right. Although the cold will make your breasts stand to attention, shivering with hunched shoulders isn't a sexy look. A glow is good, but sweating profusely is not.
Accessorize. Accentuate your nakedness with a prop or accessory. A necklace, scarf, or feather boa is great, but don't be afraid to go with something a little more unusual. This will give you something to work with if you are a little nervous, and also, tantalizingly, this emphasizes your natural state.

Get confident and get naked. No one else has a body like yours- so show it off in all its glory. If you usually shave your pubic hair, try waxing instead. Shaving can leave you an unsightly rash with ingrown hairs.  If all else fails, you’ve eaten too much pasta, your jeans have popped the first two buttons, you’re bleary eyed, your make-up is smudged and you never did do your toning exercises, bear in mind you are still a beautiful person. And if you're married, the person you are getting naked with probably couldn’t care less - or at least they shouldn't!

Should Pinays learn the benefits of sleeping naked?

Have you dreamt of being naked? Well, your interpretation could be vague, but certainly it could be quite odd or rather amusing. But have you actually slept naked? If not, then I tell you, it’s worth a try. Just make sure, you don’t get embarrassed though. Sleepnaked.org points to several benefits for sleeping naked:

Comfort and health
Not only is sleeping naked more comfortable, but it's good for your health too. Increasing your level of comfort makes it easier for you to relax and sleep, so you get a better night's kip. The resulting deeper, longer sleep makes it easier for your body to regenerate and repair itself, and build up your energy for the day ahead.

Sexual benefits
If you sleep with a partner, being naked heightens the level of intimacy between you, and you are likely to have sex more often. You may also feel closer to your partner as a result of sleeping naked with them. There is also evidence of improved fertility in men as a result of being in cooler conditions thanks to wearing less clothing.

Work and lifestyle benefits
If you find yourself tired in the morning or during the day even though you've had at-least eight hours sleep, you may only be sleeping lightly for that period of time. As mentioned earlier, sleeping naked allows your body to relax more immediately, and you are more likely to fall into a deeper sleep more quickly and wake up refreshed.

"What if someone walks in on me?"
Of course, whether or not you can sleep naked depends on the circumstances in which you live. For example: you may share a flat with others. Probably the best way to avoid this happening is to tell them you sleep naked. At worst, they will giggle, and you can refer them to sleepnaked.org.

Being too cold at night
You should consider upping the amount of blankets you are using to keep you warm. You should remember that being too cold causes your body to restrict your blood flow, and sleeping in these conditions too regularly will hinder your ability to self-repair, stay healthy and may ultimately speed up the aging process.
Your partner doesn't like it
If your partner isn't comfortable with you being naked, you may want to speak to them about why this is. Ask yourself - do you have a healthy sex life? If not, then sleeping naked may be the least of your problems and you should speak to your partner.

"What if there is a fire/emergency?"
Keep a dressing gown next to your bed that you can wear, this will also be handy if you want to use the bathroom and it's a little cold. It won't take long to put on a dressing gown in an emergency, and you can do it while 'on the move' if you need to.

"Does it matter if I wear boxer shorts instead of sleeping naked?"
Wearing any clothing could potentially cause discomfort while you sleep, as fabrics press against the skin and elastics cause tightness around the waist. You are more likely to roll around to alleviate the discomfort, potentially causing restless sleep.

The modern Pinay takes her lifestyle across barriers of culture and ignorance. Even the way she sleeps matters now for her own health and glory. Could these benefits of sleeping naked pull her fabrics away from her soft skin? I bet the dare or the bare will be worth it.

WHEN A PINAY DREAMS OF BEING NAKED

I wonder if it is safe to say that almost every Filipina has had a dream where she was naked, or scantily clad in just her underwear. But I am certain that somehow the typicality of such instance is very real. Perhaps the dream was in school, or in a grocery store or even just walking down the street without a stitch of clothing on her back. Maybe she suddenly found herself nude on a beach, naked on the bus or up on a stage in her birthday suit. This is a common dream pattern, yet nakedness is a complex symbol in dreams which could be dependent on the culture in which the dream occurs and who is interpreting the experience.

Dream patterns arise from a society's shared beliefs, experiences, fears and anxieties, literally from the hopes and dreams of the people both individually and collectively. As such, these experiences which are fundamental to all peoples, will hold significant dependence upon the culture's attitude toward them. One population’s attitude toward nakedness can vastly differ from others. For example, in Pinoy culture, public nudity is a taboo and in almost all areas it is connotes abnormality and public scandal. As such, the Pinoy attitude towards nakedness is unfavorably a social humiliation.

Sigmund Freud considered the dream of nakedness as a typical dream and it fulfills an exhibitionistic wish. There are three characteristics of the dream of nakedness: shame at being naked, indifference on the part of the spectators (usually numerous), and the sense of being paralyzed. It can be interpreted as a fulfillment of an exhibitionistic wish dating back to the happy period of early childhood, when such a wish could legitimately be satisfied.  Such would be the case if a parent taught their child that nakedness and the human body are to be something hidden from the public view, or even more compounded if the parent taught that nudity is something to be ashamed of. Dreams of nakedness enable the dreamers to express their "undying longing for the return of the paradise of childhood. Dreams of nakedness, always linked to an erotic or exhibitionistic theme, are universal, and accordingly should be considered typical dreams. Despite their commonality, however, they have not yet led to a specific theorization.

However, wherever the origin of nakedness anxieties arise for an individual or culture as a whole, the human mind tends to create dreams in flashes of visual imagery which can symbolically represent our individual personal hopes and fears. For one dreamer, a dream of being naked could be a window to the inner self which indicates a fear of sexuality, being exposed or vulnerability and weakness. For yet another, it may have a more positive spin, indicating attributes such as honesty and openness (such as in the cliché "the naked truth").
Only the dreamer can interpret her own dreams of nakedness. For the Filipina, it could mean that wonderful feeling of being uninhibited, unencumbered, of being free to express herself as she chooses. For another, dream nudity will be a nightmare representing complete exposure of the deepest, most hidden parts of the self.

Dream dictionaries, interpreters and psychiatrists will all offer suggestions on what nakedness means in the dream based on their personal proclivities and schooling. You can go to any modern bookstore and find shelves of books which will tell you that one particular dream motif means one thing or another. However, you must decide for yourself how important underwear is to you, and what it means to be naked in the dream.

Dreams are a kind of entertainment and learning experience of their own at the same time. If you can figure out your dreams, you may have more insight into what needs paying attention to in your own life. In the meantime, dream well.

Half-Naked Pinays as Objects?

A recent study found that some men may view scantily clad women as objects rather than as people. Male heterosexuals had their brains scanned by an MRI machine while they viewed a series of photographs of men and women, some of whom were fully clothed and others of whom wore only swimsuits. The pictures of bikini-clad women activated brain regions associated with objects or “things you manipulate with your hands”. These men also remembered the photos of the half-naked women better than they did any of the others noting that the subjects remembered the bodies, not the faces, most clearly. These results indicated that some men may objectify or dehumanize partially clothed women, though further research is needed to confirm these findings.
Study participants were also asked to fill out a survey designed to measure how sexist they are. The researchers found that when the men whose surveys indicated that they were the most sexist saw the pictures of women in bikinis, they were least likely to activate a part of the brain associated with thinking about people’s minds and thoughts. This  relates to the effects of having pornography and sexualized images of women around and in the media because they spill over into how people treat women in general. These images may dehumanize women and encourage men to see them as objects. The reactions observed in the study might be a consequence of society’s emphasis on sexualized female imagery.

It was also noted that men do not look at their wives or sisters in the same way that they look at a sexualized image of a woman on an advertising billboard. Men’s perceptions of scantily clad women may be closely related to the ways people “dehumanize” groups from which they wish to distance themselves, such as homeless people and drug addicts.

Women may also see men as objects in some ways. These findings are not unique to men. The results would likely have been similar for women, perhaps in terms of male status.

It’s certainly not uncommon for men to reduce women to body parts; objectification is the reason that men say ‘get some ass’ and not ‘get some fully three-dimensional human. Women also objectify men, though that is often considered less socially acceptable. The findings seem to confirm what women have been complaining about for decades as they walk past construction sites, though they do give a new, scientific basis to the social phenomenon of objectification. The research appears to provide evidence of a more hardwired, less socially constructed tendency to objectify women, which will make eradicating the problem that much harder.

Naked Pinays on the Internet

Some sort of a research reveals that women have wide-ranging sexual interests and are savvy enough to figure out how to harness technology to pursue their erotic desires -- and occasionally make some money doing it. This is not surprising, even for Pinays, but you won't hear this general assumption on the evening news. Yes, women are slipping into sex the internet, and while the rare cynical comment and the nifty draw on individual tales expands the speculative pitch, they don't undermine the seriousness of the work.

Most fascinating is how sex workers nowadays are beginning to ascertain themselves as legitimate voices in the changing sphere of female sexuality. The internet itself has changed sex work extensively, but it has also brought more Pinays into the field, many of whom don't think of themselves as "sex workers." If a Pinay models fetishy outfits once or twice a year for cash to spend on a new tattoo, is she a sex worker? If she dances naked on webcam in an adult community but don't get paid for it, is she a sex worker, an erotic artist or both?

While a number of Pinays explore sexuality online for personal reasons and have no intention of making it a side business, much less a career, there is much more to learn from their' stories. Real women, of various ages and backgrounds and moral codes, are finding their sexual power online.

The problem is how the mainstream media treat sex technology. Technology is bad, sex is bad and anything that combines women and sex and technology is some sort of triple-whammy threat. Yet when it comes to specifics, the media are remarkably fuzzy. There’s now a question rooted in crazy technophobia that's all put off on the internet. Meeting people could be dangerous. But what's the characterization of danger? Does it suggest that you are prone to get murdered or raped? Maybe not. But are you going to have a bizarre experience? Acquire an STD? Break your heart? Danger on that scale is realistic -- but not necessarily tied to the internet.

Probably, meeting people online is much safer than meeting in a bar. There's no alcohol involved (well, there can be). But when you meet a stranger in a bar, how much can you really know before you take him/her home? The idea that meeting online is dangerous is sometimes helpful because it gets people to take steps to make things safer. What's funny is that sex workers, before and after the internet, have always had very elaborate check-in systems, with other workers, with friends, maybe an agency or escort service. Someone else knows where they are at all times. They tell someone where they are meeting, as much as they can about who they are meeting, and set a time to call. They also tell the person they're meeting that they have given this information to a friend and that they will check in. The exact same advice is listed on a lot of dating sites -- the same safety tips go for online daters as for escorts!

Now, for our dear Pinays who dare the internet for what it can offer in terms of relationship and acquaintances, sexual connections is an issue that only you can handle with utmost care and candor. Cyber technology is such a convenient medium. The risk is there but also with any other relationship. When the time for you to reveal yourself and open up your character comes – getting naked so to speak – your personal reasons are your own lookout.

Pinay Models and Morals - Getting Naked

Every day, the fashion industry in the Philippines continues to push the envelope. The Pinoy creativity that designers, photographers, and models express is amazing. But, along with innovation, other boundaries are pushed out further as well. This places amateur and professional Filipina models alike into compromising situations that force them to either give into the industry or make a stand for their convictions. In most cases, pressure from the industry makes it seem as if giving up their dignity is the only way they can pursue their dreams.

The pressures of the fashion world prompted some Pinay models to eventually give up their morals and participate in risqué modeling jobs just a few episodes later. It is so sad, but it also a reality that no matter how strong you think you are, it’s a lonely road when no one around you holds the same convictions.
If you want to be a model, the reality is that you will have many opportunities to get naked. Nudity – full, partial, and implied – are definitely part of the modeling business, especially in the high fashion industry.  But, most modeling jobs don't ask this of you at all. There are plenty of commercial, fitness, lifestyle, and print assignments that will never ask you to take your clothes off for money. In many cases, clients will arrange for private dressing areas and female stylists to keep the talent comfortable. But, this is not always the case either.

If you are looking into pursuing a modeling career, you must first determine what your boundaries are and how you will deal with requests to cross them. Discuss them with your modeling agent, who should filter potentially compromising requests for you, in honor of your standards. If they are not willing to do that, dump them. A talented model can find representation anywhere, so do not let an agency bully you into either getting naked or letting go of your dream.

The bottom line is that there are many models, actors, and entertainment professionals that lead successful careers without ever getting naked. If more of the talent would dare to make a stand, the industry would be forced to stop asking. Besides, what sense does it make to use naked bodies to sell clothing!

Naked Views at the Airports

Here is some bad news for terrorists! Well, I'm not sure how this one will fare with our demure and conservative Pinay beauties and Pinoy hunks.

An X-ray machine that generates "naked" images of passengers was pioneered at an airport enabling staff to instantly catch a glimpse of any hidden weapons or explosives. Just as luggage is systematically X-rayed to see what's inside, airport security personnel have tested this scanner which looks through clothes for drugs and concealed weapons. But is modesty preserved? The thrilling worries for the naked Pinay views could be a delicate issue. It could be seen as  invasive and pernicious.

The X-rays in effect strip you naked - little is left to the imagination and it’s very graphic." Here, privacy could be an issue. The general outline of the body can be seen, along with some blurry details of the anatomy. It shows about as much as if the person were wearing a tight bathing suit. Obviously, it must be used with discretion, such as ensuring that the monitor is visible only to the security screener. While the scanner is more invasive than a conventional metal detector, it is more effective as it can detect "21st Century weapons" such as explosives and plastic guns.

What it does is reduce the resolution at certain parts of the body, much like a broadcaster can pixelate someone's face. At present, the only way of locating these dangerous items is through a pat-down search, where the security officer rubs his hands over the person's body."

Already the scanner is in use in the US and worldwide in airports, embassies, court buildings, prisons and government properties. While modesty was preserved during the police operation by the scanner - and its operators - being hidden away in a mobile unit, civil liberties advocates have raised concerns about an operator's code of conduct and any risks of passers-by having a look.

The full body scanner can produce a 360° digital image of the body - minus clothes in just six seconds.  And will also show up any breast enlargements, false limbs, piercings, and a clear outline of passengers' private parts. What shows up is the naked human form and anything concealed on the person: coins in a pocket, trouser studs, metal or ceramic knives, guns, explosives, drugs. The shin bones, which lie close to the skin's surface, can also be seen, as other features such as the cleft between buttocks.

Some passengers might not want to be scanned because of the graphic nature of the images and they can refuse to undergo the virtual strip search at  the terminal opting for the traditional "pat down" search instead. But the black and white image will only be seen by one officer in a remote location before it is deleted. Most customers do not like the traditional "pat down" search, they find it too intrusive, but they still want to be kept safe.

This scanner completely takes away the hassle of needing to undress. The images are not erotic or pornographic and they cannot be stored or captured in anyway. The scanner makes the check-in process much quicker for passengers, who will not have to remove their coats, shoes or belts.

Frequent flyers do not need to worry about radiation from the low-level X-ray. Passengers can go through this machine 5,000 times a year each without worrying, it is super safe and the amount of radiation transmitted is tiny. Electromagnetic waves are beamed on to passengers while they stand in a booth, and a virtual three-dimensional "naked" image is created from the reflected energy.

Pinays Behind the Success of Pacquiao

The most successful Pinoy Boxer, and the current world boxing superstar – Manny Pacquiao, has a lot of things going on for him. He has even hit the right notes for his 7th title bid.  He’s booked a concert for after the fight at the Mandalay Bay and they are paying him $100,000 [about £60,000] to play 13 songs. When Freddie Roach heard, he asked, ‘Manny, what are you doing? This is a hard fight.’ Manny just said, ‘I can do both.’ Every night, after training, he goes off to rehearsal. At least, when he does his music, he’s calm, he’s relaxed and it gets his mind off the boxing.

After the boxing and singing, Pacquiao appears as a masked superhero in Wapakman, a film released in the Philippines this month, wearing a red spandex suit. “That suit is really funny,” Roach said. “With all that money spent, they should have got him a better suit. Let’s just see how the film will fare based on the result of his fight with Cotto.

But while we see upfront those things going on for Pacman, we cannot deny the important people behind the people’s champ. As the old cliché, “behind a man’s success is a woman”, goes, we cannot ignore the impact of 3 or more Pinays in his life.
  • First is Nanay Dionisia, his ever supportive mother who also loves the limelight. Nanay Dionisia’s newly acquired ballroom dancing skills were not the only surprise for everyone but her comical popularity is growing by the day in its grandiosity as she gets busy with TV commercials.
  • Second is Pacquiao’s  wife Jinky, the beauteous life partner who shares with every sacrifice and reward that Manny gathers along the way. As the well-picked Belo commercial model, she exudes all the rage that her husband’s popularity carries. She is even on the cover of Good House Keeping where she talks about what she always thinks about her husband and how she’s become stronger on the grind of events in their lives.
  • Third is PGMA, the lady president of his country, the Philippines. Pacquiao doesn’t care about all the hullabaloos surrounding the unpopularity or popularity of Pres. Gloria, but their long-time reciprocity of support encompasses every struggle that Pacquiao and the country went through.
What about Pacman’s young daughter, Queen Elizabeth? His movie leading lady, Ara Mina? And to all the girls she met before and after? Don’t get me wrong, but  the Pinay contribution to a man’s success cannot be denied. That naked truth should disclose some secrets of success in every man’s endeavor. Surely, a multitude of Pinay’ will pray for and watch his fight tomorrow. Let us just see how they will react on the result.

Getting Naked Financially - Discuss Money with Your Honey

The old romantic notion that marital bliss means money doesn't matter could very well be an idyllic brickwall. In today's troubled economic times, that's simply false optimism. And with layoffs galore and debt mounting, financial stress is high on the roof just like the recent floodings in Manila and Pangasinan (Philippines). Well,  keeping afloat and affectionate is not impossible especially with the Filipina disposition. Think again. An inspiring, action-oriented plan can help women in committed relationships understand and manage their money matters. Just be on your own two feet, clear those worries and create a happy home. What? Is it that easy?

Let's get to the bottom of things. Wait, don't get too tight on the sexy title crap of this article. Getting naked is actually getting unwrapped by admitting your real financial situation in the family...with your partner, your husband maybe? Talk it over, in bed or somewhere else. Rekindle the romantic touch as you hold hands together against the world, I mean, against this world in recession. Stop blaming the circumstances, most of all cease blaming yourselves - that's not a healthy foreplay. State the truth, develop a plan, work together. Your honey will be inspired again to see you unstripping financially because the two of you together should run through financial obscurity to that marital bliss...

Another Famous Pinay!

The fact is - Filipinas who are individually famous have carved a proud image that could wash away  the tight niche that common views tend to wrap around their shoulders. Actually there are many of them who can stand tall and dignified before the judgmental stare of horny men and dominating houselords. When the biased expectations of the world anticipate the Pinay to pull off the house broom or her undies, one strong Pinay stuns the world with an admirable feat. Read below the Lisa Kaaki's feature in the Arab News of an admirable Filipina:

Bea Valdes: World-famous Filipina designer

In the next few years, Asian and African designers will play an increasing role on the global fashion scene. Even the most famous European fashion designers such as the genial Galiano and even the late Yves Saint Laurent often turned to the East for inspiration.

The Filipina designer, Bea Valdes, is currently enjoying an unprecedented success, both in Europe and the United States. Valdes, whose family has been working in the jewelry business for three generations, began designing evening bags in 2004. She soon became interested in statement neckpieces, these giant necklaces which add “wow” to the most casual clothes.

Her ‘artrageous’ creations have been photographed in Harper’s Bazaar, Newsweek, Glamour and Marie Claire. More recently, British Vogue’s September issue featured Kate Moss wearing only a Burberry trench coat and a sublime neckpiece by Bea Valdes. Sold in well-known shops such as Barney’s, Harvey Nichols and Saks Fifth Avenue, her jewelry has been worn by Sharon Stone, Kate Hudson and of course Kate Moss. A Bea Valdes piece, whether a bag or a neckpiece, takes around a month to finish. Each piece is handmade and can consist of up to 75 different beads, crystals, and even semiprecious stones. “I don’t really plan what I create. I begin by working on my panels. Sometimes, a panel will tell me what it wants to be, a bag or a neckpiece. We are a work in progress and that is the kind of mindset I plan on keeping for the years to come. We are in constant search of new material and we aim to evolve in design and technique,” she explains. She has chosen to remain in the Philippines where she works closely with her team of forty artisans. She feels it is important to maintain a creative environment and Manila is the only place where what she wants can be done as she wants.

Bea Valdes grew up in the Philippines. She graduated with a degree in Industrial Design from the University of the Philippines and then studied Interior Design in London. When she was applying to Central Saint Martins for Jewelry Design, a professor she met for an interview, saw the embroidered panels she had brought along and told her to use them as bags. In 2000, she created 12 egg-shaped bags which were an instant success. And her breakthrough happened when one of Bea’s clients brought some of the bespoke bags to Vogue and they immediately requested a photo shoot and an interview. She is presently famous for her gorgeous, bold necklaces, the niche she was looking for, a kind of jewelry which is neither fine nor costume.

“It was like trying to create the antithesis of fine jewelry while still capturing the drama of it,” says Bea who was surprised by customers’ reactions. A number of women felt they were too short to wear such huge pieces: “I am quite small myself and love the fact that the pieces are oversized.”

Bea draws some inspiration from outside the fashion world, presently she is mostly influenced by writers such as Edward Gorey and the French poet Charles Baudelaire. She admits that she likes pieces that tell a story and according to her sister Marga: “She designs everything for herself, something I would wear, something she would wear. It’s just something she would like.” As for Bea, every time she starts working on a new bag, she says: “This will be my favorite piece. And then, the next time I start another, I say it again. That’s my motivation.”
Her bold necklaces have been doing very well since they were launched on the market a couple of seasons ago. The best-selling pieces are the most intricate, most of which are bespoke. Besides the regular collections which are sold worldwide, Bea Valdes continues to do special orders for private customers in Manila and abroad.
Despite her global success, the most well-known Filipina designer remains unchanged. Bea Valdes still spends most of her time designing, despite the birth of her daughter, Bella. Her presence, however, has affected Bea’s creativity. She tends now to use fewer dark and bold colors in favor of pastels and light colors.
For Bea Valdes, “The most important thing in one’s life is that you do the work you love with the people you love.”

World's Most Famous Pinay?

Veronica Pedrosa during the Auckland visit

Perhaps, she now holds the title as most famous Pinay face in the world, right behind Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and former First Lady Imelda Marcos.

Veronica Pedrosa embarked on her career in Manila as a TV reporter, presenter and producer for the Philippines broadcaster ABS-CBN. And by now, she has been the news anchor at the Al Jazeera English television network's Asia Pacific News Centre in Kuala Lumpur since November 2005.

She was really meant for bigger things. What with her British twang, Filipina looks, a UK degree, and that no-nonsense experience in broadcast journalism at ABS-CBN, she’s got what it takes to be there. And opportunity did bang at her flap several times. Veronica set off to work for CNN in Atlanta and Hong Kong as well as the BBC World Service and BBC World Television in London. While at CNN she was named Best News Anchor at the 9th Asian Television Awards 2004.

"I was lucky to be at the right place at the right time but of course it takes a lot of hard work too," Pedrosa reveals to Suzanne Schokman on Radio New Zealand. "Hard work, persistence and a willingness to step outside what is safe, prescribed or popular" are her success secrets.

She is the daughter of Filipino journalist Carmen Navarro Pedrosa who wrote a tell-all biography on then-First Lady Imelda Marcos that led to the Pedrosa family's exile in London where Veronica grew up. She was educated at St Paul's Girls School in London and Newham College, Cambridge. "I'm Asian at heart and European by habit," says Pedrosa. She reckons that her British accent is more understandable for people from Europe and the US and easier for her to understand what they are getting at. "I have the ability to shift between different cultures and perspectives,"she adds.

During her career stretching over 18 years, Pedrosa has brought viewers news on all the major global and regional news events and has interviewed a wide range of world figures including Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Nobel Peace Prize Winner Aung San Suu Kyi, East Timor Foreign Minister Jose Ramos Horta, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Former Philippine President Corazon Aquino, New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark and Australian Prime Minister John Howard.

She has also hosted a range of special reports and programs including dedicated Indian theme weeks in New Delhi and Mumbai and two special live series examining the aftermath of the 2002 Bali bombings and the killer disease, Severe Acute Respiratory Syn-drome (SARS).

She was in Auckland to speak at the Media Women in Asia seminar on September 26th, organised by the Asia New Zealand Foundation. "It is important that Asian women are seen in public professional roles in order to break chauvinistic stereo-types about what Asian women do, who they are. Because they can be everything!"

Sexy Swimwear: Different Ideas To Think About

It's never too early to start thinking about sexy swimwear and fitting into that string bikini. With all of the stylish options for summer wear flying off the shelves just in time for the holidays, you can start getting ready now and start preparing to look your best on the beaches in the summer heat.

Seriously though, if you want a bargain on swimsuits your best bet is to buy during the off season. Starting now gives you more options to choose from before the big rush of summer shoppers. At one time, you could only buy swimsuits during the summer, unless you lived in a tourist town in one of the warmer climes where swimwear is available all year 'round. The internet now provides you with the means for buying bikinis all through the year.

The first decision you have to make is what kind of suit you want. In order for a swimsuit to look good on you, you have to choose one that fits your body type. Face it, swimsuits have become progressively more revealing as the years have gone on. There are many men who find the full coverage of a bikini from the 70s far more attractive than the dental floss G-strings and thong bikinis we see today. And this isn't reserved for men alone, either. We've seen plenty of men who have no business wearing a thong or a Speedo.

It's not impossible to find a swimsuit that makes you look sexy and classy, regardless of your current level of fitness. When searching out the perfect swimsuit, forget what looks good on the models and mannequins and concentrate on what looks good on you. Finding the right size will make the swimsuit you choose flattering to your body type. Too many women refuse to admit they wear the size they do and they'll buy swimsuits too small with the hope that by the time they need to wear it, they'll have lost the weight and miraculously have attained the perfect body. Be realistic, it's not going to happen, ladies.

Try to keep an open mind when shopping for swimsuits. You never know what will look best on you, so try on quite a few options and try to look your best. Keep your chin up and be proud of yourself; you've come a long way, baby! It's never a bad thing to be confident and be proud of how you look in a string bikini or any other sexy swimsuit, so take your friends with you and start trying on some summer fun today.

One thing to keep in mind in terms of sexy swimwear is that confidence is the key to it all. Looking great in a swimsuit has very little to do with the actual swimsuit and a whole lot to do with how confident the person looks in it. A self-assured young woman could put duck-shaped water wings over as the next hot thing for summer if she had the right strut, so keep that in mind when rifling through the swimsuit collection. Get something that works right for you and you alone.
